James Braid of Highlands Football Club was awarded the Football South Coast - People Care District League – Best & Fairest award 2012. It is a fantastic achievement for James & a proud highlight for the Club in only its third season. James was a standout player all season for the Highlands FC First Grade team. The aggregated Best & Fairest award points from each game had James leading the contenders group from the season kick-off through to the final third of the season when aggregate points are no longer published. It was no certainty that James would win the Best & Fairest award as James was abroad in the UK visiting friends and family for the last three games of the competition. The Highlands FC table erupted with great delight when James’ name was read out at the Football South Coast Award Dinner on Friday 28 October.

James in receiving the award paid tribute to the Highlands FC committee & sponsors, First Grade Coach Curtis Campbell and his family for their support. In particular, James paid tribute to his Grandad’s support who from the UK phones James after every match for the latest update.

Highlands FC also received a special mention from the stage by a Balgownie award winner when he paid tribute to the “best post match hospitality ever” he and the Balgownie squads enjoyed with Highlands FC players and supporters at the Clubs major sponsors venue; the cosy and welcoming Scottish Arms in East Bowral.
